“I couldn’t have said it better myself…”

After waking up from her nap in an extremely grumpy mood, Genevieve was scolded time after time for having a bad attitude, being disrespectful, whining, disobeying, etc. She was disciplined and I asked her to go tell daddy sorry for all the above offenses. She walked over to him, gave him a hug and said sorry. When he asked what she was sorry for, she said, "for waking up too early!"

No, I didn't kiss a pig!

Nope, still no pictures here, but don't worry...I think they will be coming soon. I mean, my fingers are crossed, doesn't that work?

I have to be careful what I say on here, and I may need my husbands help in editing. You see, there may still be some Morphine in my blood, and it sure does funny things to people!
Apparently, after the second shot into my hip in less than 4 hours, I really started getting loopy! But, I would take the chance of possibly saying humiliating things than being in the pain I was in...I think. Well anyway, that's why this will be proofed by Sam. :-)

I spent Monday and Tuesday in the wonderful ER with what I claimed was a migraine. After the shot of some migraine med into my right side and then 3 doses of Percocet at 4 hour intervals on the first day didn't TOUCH the pain in my head, I ended back up in the ER.
That time, the Dr. examined me over and politely told me that I had the flu. Most likely the H1N1 flu. I love how they don't come out and say it..."You have the Swine Flu." But anyone with medical background knows that H1N1 isn't just "the flu." It's the one that has the media all outta whack, fearing for their lives, the one that has caused so many deaths, etc. Yep, that's the one.
The Dr. was so kind to tell me that not only would I have this headache and neck ache or this fever, but that the fever would get to 103 or 104 and then I would start coughing and my skin would hurt, and it would be difficult to breathe, etc. Those docs sure have a way of comforting the weary, don't they? Oh well, they shot me up with Morphine and it was like a miracle drug for me...until it started to wear off and they were going to send me home. The Doctor asked if the Percocet that I had at home was going to be enough. I told him that it didn't work at all and asked if he could just send me home with a prescription for morphine. Again, I was loopy and didn't realize how silly of a request that was. Apparently, Morphine is highly abused and isn't sent home with pts. But, the nice guy that he was, shot me up one more time for good measure before sending me away. I loved that man! :-)

Well, who knows if that is really what I have. They aren't actually "confirming" Swine flu cases anymore because the CDC was getting bombarded by ample amounts of positive tests. So now, they only test those that are younger than 2. Apparently, Yakima is getting about 125 cases a day! See, I just wanted to fit in!

So, for now, I am being taken good care of. I am VERY blessed to have such a wonderful family!
My mom, mother-in-law, sister and husband have gone above and beyond in comforting me. The girls have been really well behaved and quiet when they are around me. Every time Jocelyn sees me, she says, "mommy headache? mommy go to hospital?" and Genevieve has been good at rubbing my arm, but breaks my heart when she keeps saying "I miss you mommy." Those little girls are too much cuteness!

Let's just pray that no one else gets it!

Pictureless Blogging

I have a problem.

I have not been able to attach photos to my blog lately. The internet shuts down the second I try to. I don't notice this problem with anything else! And having no pictures to talk about makes me have no desire to blog. Sad but true.
But, I don't want you all to think that life is boring and dull and blog-less. It never is in this house!

Just a few highlights:

1)Genevieve started Preschool! She goes 3 days a week for 2 1/2 hours. The first week was the best. She was on cloud nine. Then the 2nd week came. Get this. She got sent home from school for having "bad toots!" Actually they said she had a tummy ache, but they also threw in the other part as well. Let's just say that this is not something that embarrasses a 3 year old, but only her mother.

2)Jocelyn is in a big girl bed! She does really well and never tries to get out. She loves that her bed is just like her sisters.

3)Jocelyn is also on the way to being potty trained. She has big girl panties and she hates them. Yep. She goes pee-pee in the potty about 4 times a day and often times keeps her diaper dry. She even holds it at a store, at church, or in the car until she can get to a bathroom. But don't ask her to put panties on. Not gonna do it. She prefers a diaper.

4)Oh, yes, we can't forget that Jenna gets to drive in a booster seat now. Come on people...this is huge! Actually, we just needed one in Sam's truck for preschool transportation issues. And for all of you questioning my judgement...she is of legal weight, don't worry.

5)Jocelyn is in gymnastics 1x/week while Genevieve is in school. So far she loves it. She is a little monkey and is up for any challenge. That girl has no fear.

Well, there you have it! My 2 and 3 year old are what keeps me busy. But I wouldn't have it any other way. They are the biggest blessing in my life and I love every accomplishment they have in their life.

She has stumped us...

Jocelyn.

We were referred to a pediatric endocrinologist at Seattle's Children's to try and figure out why she is having so many "episodes." Yesterday was our appointment.

We were at the hospital for 2 hours with 2 doctors! It was the best visit ever! They were very friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, etc. They wanted EVERY detail and were very thorough with her history! I could go on and on about what we learned, what we have to do, etc but I will make a long story short.

The reason we went was because Jocelyn gets "life-like" during her episodes. She has a hard time holding her head up, her eyes start to roll back, she can't walk, won't talk, and is very "heavy." During these episodes her blood glucose gets down to 50-60 (normal being 80-100) Although, there are times that is higher, in the 70-80's, when she has them. When we feed her she "comes back" after 5-10 minutes.

We learned that people that are "hypoglycemic" have very low blood glucose...like 15-20. Not 50-60.So, this makes them think that there is something else.

The plan: We wait for an episode when her blood glucose is between 50-60 and when she is having her symptoms. We have to take her to the hospital for them to run some labs. The scary part is that we can't feed her. We pack her up, drive 15 minutes to the hospital, and demand the lab to do 7 tests. We use those results to see what the next step will be. (I believe that those results actually determine diabetes, hypoglycemia, insulinoma, etc which they DON'T think it is) We have 2 months to do this. If not, they will admit her to Children's and "induce" it by not feeding her until it gets low and then run the tests themselves. On that same note, we had the option just to admit her there for them to induce it, or let us try and do it here. We are hoping to not have to admit her.

THEN, she is being referred to a neurologist to see if there has been any seizure activity. (I believe they are thinking that it may be something more along these lines.)

The most important part is this: Her growth is constant. Her weight and height are both continuing to increase at a nice level. This means that there isn't anything affecting that. So, whatever it is, should be easily treatable. Hopefully.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for her...and me...:-)

Rain Boots

We always knew that Jocelyn had a shoe fetish, but never did I think she would take it this far!
She scored some awesome purple, pink, and teal butterfly rain boots for her birthday and she can't go anywhere without them...literally!
On our way to swimming lessons...
While playing in her playroom...

While hangin' out with sister outside...
(who also scored awesome ladybug rain boots on her birthday)

Last Sunday, she refused to put on her white sandals with the little back-less sundress she was wearing for church. It was a battle I chose not to fight and in the end, she got all sorts of compliments on her "style."

Jocelyn's 2nd Birthday

I have to preface this blog with a huge thank you to my husband.
You see, I wasn't clearly using my head, and I ended losing ALL of her birthday pictures. (Really, it is a long story of how it happened and I won't bore you with the details.) The important part was that I had no evidence of her 2nd birthday.
This really upset me and I felt as if I had missed a part of her life since I had no verification of it. I knew that both grandma's at the party had been taking pictures, but it wasn't the same. There were specific shots that I was so excited to see and photos that I had captured that were priceless and they were all missing.
Well, that's when my husband comes in.
He found a program that recovers files that had already been deleted. Unfortunately, not all files can be recovered. He downloaded it, and was able to find about 1/2 of our pictures. I am still missing certain ones that I was really excited about, as well as some videos (singing happy birthday to her as she blows out the candles) but the important part is that at least now I actually have some birthday pictures. I would never have thought that was even possible.
Thank you Sam!
So, our baby turned 2 on July 19th but she seems so much older for the following reasons:
1) Jocelyn continues to grow in height and is still in the 90th percentile for her age.
2) She sings her ABC's, as clear as day, only stumbling on "now I know my ABC's, next time won't you sing with me."
3) She can count to 14. Yes, 14, and again, very clearly.
4) She sings Twinkle twinkle, Jingle Bells, and Itsy-Bitsy Spider.
5) Does not/will not sit in a high chair and prefers not to be in a booster seat.
6) Is extremely independent and wants to do EVERYTHING on her own.
Her birthday party had no theme...just good company, good food, and good times. A friend of ours let us borrow her large bouncer for the yard (pictures below.) The kids had a lot of fun with it except that it was 100 degrees outside and even hotter inside the bouncer. We ended up put a sprinkler directly in front of the entrance so that you had to get wet as you went in and as you came out. We were attempting to prevent any heat exhaustion or stroke.
Jocelyn partaking of her special cake

Genevieve and Ashlyn

I saw this cake off a friend of a friends blog (thanks Sara!) and thought I had to try it. Each layer has fresh fruit in it. Red has raspberries, orange-oranges, yellow-lemon, green-lime, blue-blueberries, and purple-blackberries. It was not the quickest or easiest cake, to say the least, but it was exciting to see the results. It was completely covered in white chocolate frosting, so no one had any idea what kid of cake it was...until it was cut into. It was actually really fun to eat, because we all seemed to eat slowly, trying to decide which flavor was are favorite. It actually smelled like fruit loops when it came out of the oven.

The large bouncer that barely fit in our side yard.

These were taken prior to the guest arriving. All of the shots with the kids in it are unable to be retrieved. :(

The birthday girl

At the end of the day, when everyone had left, Jocelyn found her blankie, her finger, and a nice resting place. She was BEAT!

As Sam took down the bouncer, the girls had absolutely no energy left. Genevieve is very motherly and is trying to comfort Jocelyn

Is it time for bed yet?

Lovin' the summertime

Just a few random shots of the girls enjoying the warm weather

And this would be Jocelyn's artwork...on my white chair!

Is she actually sharing her chocolate cake???
