Christmas Day Twinsies

We finally got a chance to play in the snow. Genevieve is wearing her new gear that she will use when daddy takes her skiing for the first time this year. She is very excited to ski with him! (Jocelyn just gets the old hand-me downs.)

Hot Chocolate?

When I informed the girls today that we were going to do something very special tonight, I didn't get the response I was thinking I would get.

Sam and I are going to start a family tradition during the Christmas Season of bundling the girls up one night, taking them to Starbucks to get a hot chocolate and then head to the live drive-through nativity seen as well as drive around Yakima to look at Christmas lights.

So after descibing in detail what our evening was going to consist of, Jenna replied, "Um mom, I don't want hot chocolate. I would rather have Root Beer."

Now does that seem very "Christmas-like?"

Today I picked Genevieve up from Preschool and the following conversation too place:

Me: How was school today?
G: Good! We did something different today.
Me: Oh really, what did you do that was different?
G: Well, we went up some stairs, and then we walked on a sidewalk, and it was black!
Me (thoroughly confused): You walked on a black sidewalk?
G: Yep!
Me: And what did you do while you walked on the black sidewalk?
G: Um, we sang "Jingle Bells and We Wish You A Merry Christmas."
Me (now it started to click): Was the black sidewalk called a "stage?"
G: Yep, we walked on a stage!
Me: Were you practicing for your Christmas Program?
G: Yeah!

One other Funny Genevieve-ism happened when I took a bite of her tuna fish sandwich the other day to which she cried:
"Now I can't eat my sandwich because it has YOUR germs on it!"

Christmas Party

For my work's Christmas Party this year, Dr. Brown (my boss) planned a Murder/Mystery themed party at his house. We found out about it a few weeks ago, and have had time to get to know our character, that no one else knows about, and to put our costume together.

The party takes place on a cruise ship. We (both passengers and crew) are all at the Captain's Cocktail party when a murder takes place. There are many side issues going on that cause everyone to blame each other. At the end of the night we had to try and figure out who the killer was.

I was one of 3 final beauty pageants, trying to win the title of Ambassadress.
Sam was the Head Barman, known as Tom Collins, and was actually my husband on the ship although NO ONE knew this since my romantic involvement with him would eliminate me from the competition due to the pageant rules. There was one person however, that knew I was married, but was using that information as black male.

We had 16 players (8 staff and their spouses.)

We each had a sheet of paper that had our objectives on it. After everyone seemed to have taken care of their objectives, the lights went out mysteriously, there was a scream, and when the lights came back on, the "Showgirl" was found dead on the floor. (Good acting by the way Mandi!)

We had a lot of fun the whole night acting like people we weren't and would never plan on being!

At the end of the night, the truth came out that I, "Kristy Marie" was indeed the killer. I had to kill the showgirl since she knew of my marriage to Tom Collins, and I couldn't afford for anyone to find out, or I would be eliminated from the Beauty Pageant. I mean come on, can you blame me? :)

Sickness

Went to the doctor today. Influenza is negative which we are very thankful for. Sickness of some sort however is most definitely a positive. This picture is taken mid-morning. Haven't even had lunch yet. This is a big dilemma. Do I wake them up, feed them, and put them in their beds, or just let them be?

Gimp and other gimp

Last week, my 10 year old niece tripped while playing soccer, resulting in a break of her foot, specifically the 5th metatarsal bone of her right foot. The very next day, my mom stepped down off a step, resulting in a break of her foot, specifically the 5th metatarsal bone of her right foot. Sound like a broken record?

Here they are modeling their new boot that will accompany them everywhere for the next couple of weeks.
(The best part of the picture, I'm sure you will all agree, is the very sparkling clean, finger-print-less window behind them.) :)

Monkey replacement

Since Share Bear has to go back to school with Jenna on Monday, I decided to take Jocelyn out today for some special time to pick out her very own new teddy bear (or stuffed animal.)

She was ecstatic when she found a monkey. It has a belly button hole that she liked sticking her finger in and she immediately gave him big hugs.

Problem solved right?

Nope.

We got back into the car where she threw the monkey on the floor and grabbed Share Bear.

I later found the girls on my bed watching a movie.

The Adventures of Share Bear

On Monday, Genevieve came home from Preschool with "Share Bear."

Share Bear is her class teddy bear. Each student gets to take
him home for one week and take him where ever they go
and I am to keep a journal describing the adventures of
Share Bear while in our possession.

Here is Share Bear:

Genevieve, however, has absolutely no interest in Share Bear.
She does not want to play with him.
She does not want to take him to church.
She does not want to sleep with him.
According to her, Share Bear is "hairy."



Please don't feel bad for Share Bear.
Share Bear is EXTREMELY loved.
Unfortunately, loved a little too much...

On the 3rd night, Jocelyn woke up at 2:00 in the morning crying for her bear. Apparently, he fell out of the bed and she was unable to find him.

On the 4th day, we went to run errands. Her pink blankie, which we don't go anywhere withoutit , stayed home. She had no desire to bring her blankie. She instead was bringing Share Bear.

Little does she know, Share Bear will be living with a new family in 4 days.
I am pleading with anyone.
Have you seen a bear that resembles Share Bear?
I must buy a new Share Bear!

Correction made by a 3 year old

Genevieve and I went over to my parents house the other night to visit. My mom was reading a book to Jenna on the couch with me in the room.

The following took place:

My mom (Reading a children's biblical story): "And God told Noah that it made him very sad that there were wicked people in the world...and it also made him sad that Genevieve disobeys her mommy."
Genevieve: "And daddy."

That girl doesn't miss a thing.

Veteran's Day

Mandi and I took the kiddos to the Veterans' Day Parade today. Although we froze our buns off, the kids had a good time.

Jocelyn and Kailer are the 2 biggest cheese-balls, but when asked for once to smile for the camera, they both failed.

Genevieve and Ashlyn however, sported nice smiles.

Although the marching bands, floats, police cars, motorcycles, and sirens were all exciting, they all agreed that candy being thrown at them was the best part!

No, I'm not pregnant alright?

But I am going to promise to start blogging more regularly. And by "regularly" I mean 3 times a week. Wait, I take that back...2 times a week. Hey. Give me a break, I don't see all of you doing it 2 times a week!

Now listen, it doesn't necessarily mean that every blog will be full of excitement and glee. In fact, it may just be to tell you that I have a minute to blog since the girls are once again in timeout. Unfortunately, that seems to be a constant at this stage in their lives. But a wise man (I'm speaking of my dad) once told me that you have to be consistent with your kids and when momma says "no" momma means "no."

Attached is a picture of Genevieve reading to Jocelyn. She loves to do this with her. Today was more interesting though because she could not start the book until she had her glasses. I am assuming that Mrs. Henn (her preschool teacher) has to use her glasses since Genevieve seems to copy EVERYTHING Mrs. Henn does!
