We were on our way for a family vacation with the girls to Palm Springs, California.
We drove to Seattle from Yakima. No problems. We took a shuttle bus from the parking lot were we kept our car at to the airport. No problems. We took a subway from the check in desk at the airport to the correct gate. No problems. We did all of this with 2 kids, 2 backpacks, a purse, 2 blankets, 2 suitcases, and 2 booster seats. No problems. We tried to take one escalator down to the floor below at the airport. Disaster strikes!
Sam went down first with his hands full. I step onto it with a suitcase in one hand and Jocelyn's hand in the other thinking that Jenna would follow right behind me. As Jocelyn and I start to go, Jenna freaks out. She is to afraid to step on. People start lining up behind her. Jocelyn and I are 1/4 the way down...Sam 3/4 of the way. I try convincing Jenna just to step on and hold on with her hand. She begins to panic. I let go of my suitcase and try calmly to explain to Jocelyn that she needs to hold on and stand still. By this time I am 1/2 way down and Sam is to the bottom. Jenna, well, she's still at the top! And the line behind her is growing with people trying to convince her to go. I am able to let go of Jocelyn, and the suitcase, and I begin to sprint up an escalator that is moving the opposite direction that I am trying to go. I also have a full backpack and a purse in hand. And as I am sprinting up, I hear Jenna crying for me to help her! She had begun to put one foot on the escalator and was holding the rail with both hands as it is moving down, but she is to scared to put her other foot on. This is causing her to do the splits with her head going straight down.
Exhausting! And what I would have considered the easiest part of the trip!
Needless to say, we made it here fine and are enjoying the warm sun and complete relaxation!
More on our trip coming up later. :)
