Sam's dream may eventually come true

When Sam and I got married almost 9 years ago (Wow! Already?) he had high hopes that we would have kids and be a family that skied together. He had visions of trips to Lake Tahoe and Aspen Colorado together. Unfortunately, I never really got excited about skiing. In fact, the last time I went downhill skiing was in high school, a good 12 years ago.

But last year, things changed a little bit. Genevieve wanted to go skiing like daddy. Maybe, just maybe, I secretly hoped that she would hate it. Ironically, she loved it! She only went twice but begged her daddy to take her on the "lift chair."

That's when the panic started.

She is only 4! She can't go on the chair lift to the top of the mountain! She might fall off! Sam tried reassuring me that he would hold her and take care of her. But he's not her mommy.

Suddenly, I took an interest in skiing. I decided that if my little girls were going skiing, then gosh darn it, so was i! :)

So here we are, introducing the sport to our children, who I must say, are enjoying it and picking it up rather well. Even Jocelyn, the girl who doesn't like sledding was all smiles and only got mad and frustrated when she couldn't go fast enough. Seriously.

This is Jocelyn's first run on the Poma lift at White Pass.

Magic carpet?!? Is that what they have now instead of the bunny tow that jerks your arms? Nice. Your pictures are adorable and I agree, my babies on a ski lift would be enough to get me skiing too!

I don't think we'll ever be a family of skiers. I have done it in the past but Greg never did as a kid and neither one of us really cares. Sorry kids, this is a basketball family.
